Works well with showers of sparks. – Handy carrying pouch – used for a larger folding knife – and the firesteel itself is excellent. Showers of sparks are produced with each stroke of the Striker – just ensure you use the “Burred” striker edge against the ferro shaft – and that you scrape off the anti-corrosion coating before use.

Great piece of kit – Bought for my son for camping. Once the blacking on the steel is removed ( just a little scraping with the striker ) it is very effective and easily produced sparks sufficient to light small ball of straw/kindling with which to light a bigger fire. Small and easily carried in a pocket . He was impressed with the additional cord.
